S is for Star Gazing (and so is G)

Living in a city that is never dark makes me yearn for starlight,  so recently I decided to create a little starlight of my own.

We had this lovely old gardening book, with beautifully aged pages, and a few other thrifted treasures that were the perfect materials to create these sweet ornaments.

After creating a pattern for the dimensional five-pointed star using the Betsy Ross 'one cut' method, it was a simple matter of making a base from a re-purposed cereal box, and covering it with a vintage book page.

A little vintage glitter, and a nice corsage finished it up!

The other star was created using a traditional woven design that incorporated folded book pages instead of traditional reed.

The process was a little messy, but that may have more to do with the fact that I was actually working on five different star designs.  See the rolled up book pages on the right of this photo?  Those are for a star inspired by this post from Layla at The Lettered Cottage.

I'm loving the finished stars!  How can you go wrong with aged book pages, tinsel, and glitter?

I have tutorials in the works for these projects plus the other star patterns (finally remembered to photograph every single step along the way), so be sure to click on 'follow' in my sidebar so you won't miss them.

Happy Crafting!
